La première fête pour le bébé

This past Sunday I attended Baby's first party! Catesby hosted a Mommy and Baby brunch in Fredericksburg where we grew up and it was très magnifique. From the organic fare to the yummy cupcakes and generous guests, it will be an afternoon I will always remember. Annie, Catesby's co-host and daughter was certainly a big help and I cannot believe it was 5 years this November that I watched her being born. I am so lucky to have friends and family with whom to celebrate this joyous time.

A Year of Babies in our Family...

So not only are John and I becoming parents this year, but Kristie and Ben welcomed not one but two babies into this world on Monday, June 9th. Makenna and Grant were both born within the same minute at 7:44am and they are so cute! Say hello to my niece and nephew whom I can't wait to meet.

Braxton Hicks

What do you get when you combine an extremely hot Virginia summer and a late morning/early afternoon walk? Braxton Hicks contractions! Well at least when you're dealing with a very pregnant lady like myself. I've been walking on the treadmill at home and feeling great, so I decided to get outside and walk when I can as well. I guess the humidity combined with the different physical activity triggered some BH contractions because the bottom of my belly tightened up for about 1-2 minutes and I also felt it in my low back. Lesson learned: the treadmill is my friend, hot and muggy walks are not!

In other pregnancy related news, we ordered our glider/rocker for the nursery last week. Good thing too--it takes 10-12 weeks for delivery. Hopefully we will have the glider before a baby! We also finally settled on bedding for the nursery and are now deciding with which shade of green to paint--the walls are coverd in 1x1 blocks of sample paint! I think we almost have it figured out though and I cannot wait until it all comes together.

Speaking of Babies...

So a lot has been happening in my life, but I wanted to take a moment and announce the birth of my best friend's son--Kian Antonio. Amy and Marcio welcomed their first born on July 4th at 10:51 am. Talk about fireworks! He was 7 lbs and 7 oz and is super cute. I can't wait to see him in person and have our kids grow up together. Congrats to Amy and Marcio!

20 Week Ultrasound

John and I went in for our 20 week ultrasound today joined by my sister Stephanie and it was amazing! I loved being able to see our little one moving all around and begin to make sense of which body parts are where. S/he is laying transverse--the head is on my left side, the spine runs next to where my belly button is and the feet are on my right side--so we were not able to get a good profile shot, but still were able to walk away with some pretty good pictures. All fingers, toes, arms, legs are looking good as well as all major organs including the brain. My fluid levels are right on track and our little one already weighs 1 pound! Developmentally it looks like s/he is one week ahead (where I thought I was to begin with) but they did not change my due date (November 21). We are waiting till his/her birthday to find out the sex so no announcement there either. However the tech said that she could definitely see the genitals and all looks good in that regard too. We are so in love with this baby and can't believe the next time we see him/her will be the birthday!

Face Shot

I can touch my knees to my nose and look at my toes! (my ankles are crossed)

My heart, stomach and brain all look good

See you in November!
