Operation Pink

With Nicolaus' new room complete, I now begin Operation Pink. Since we know Carleigh is a girl, I want to make the nursery more, well, girly. We decorated the nursery very gender neutral before Nicolaus was born since we didn't know his sex. The light green on the walls will look fantastic with pink accents and the fairy tale plates my mom collected for me when I was little. These are the before pictures...an almost blank canvas. Bring on the pink!

Nicolaus' New Room

With his little sister on the way, John and I started planning Nicolaus' "Big Boy Room" several months ago. With his love of all things truck, we knew we had to incorporate them into the room somehow. We settled on a transportation theme. The room really started to come together when Grandma and Grandpa Harris gave Nicolaus new covers for his big boy bed for Christmas. They have cars and trucks all over them. Perfect! Nicolaus' Great Grandaddy Lam handmade a bunch of cars and trucks modeled right from the sheets of the bedset. They are so detailed and amazing--something Nicolaus (and I) will cherish forever. He had such a great time opening the box of wood carvings and wanted to play with every one of them. Of course he didn't understand they were for his bedroom wall.

I made a truck for Nicolaus' door by attaching a ribbon to the back of one of the pieces John's Grandad made. It really sets the stage for the room.
Check out all the cars and trucks on the wall! Nicolaus loves them and points to them everyday and shouts "Trucks!"

Curtains and activity table. The table was a gift when Nicolaus was born and has a plane, train, boat, and car painted in primary colors. Toy cubby with more cars and trucks on the wall above
The picture line I made with the airplane and train Grandaddy Lam made.
Nicolaus enjoys reading in his new room. Here he is with one of his faves, Good Night Gorilla.

32 Weeks

How far along: 32 weeks

Total weight gain: 20 lbs

Maternity clothes: I definitely prefer my stretchy pants and tees. Some of my maternity shirts are even too short to cover my whole belly

Stretch marks: Still none...too good to be true?

Sleep: Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Its just not comfy anymore

Movement: She's moving all the time. Sometimes i wonder what in the world she could be doing in there. Her favorite time to "dance" is around 10 pm

Food cravings/aversions: I have had a major sweet tooth lately and cravings for red meat. The reubens I made after St. Patty's Day were wondrous!

Other symptoms: My joints hurt if I am standing for long periods of time and my belly has been getting tight. Could be Braxton Hicks contractions

Belly button status: Almost non-existent--flat against my belly

What I miss: Sleeping on my belly and being able to roll over easily and rough-house with Nicolaus

What I am looking forward to: Making the nursery girly

Milestones: Passing GD test with flying colors

Nicolaus' reaction: He really likes his new room even though he doesn't know why we moved him. He still loves to kiss Mommy's belly and when you ask him what is in Mommy's belly he says "baby."

Spring Has Sprung!

Warm weather has finally arrived in Virginia (and hopefully it's here to stay)! Nicolaus really has enjoyed the last two days playing outside. He LOVES riding his horsey and of course playing with any ball he can get his hands on. If you ask me, he is a natural at soccer already!

Rainy Day Crochet

Last week's several rainy days in a row kept me in the house and since John was out of town for a conference, I busied myself with crafts. Among the things I accomplished are two hats for Carliegh. I have to say the green sun hat may be the cutest piece I have crocheted yet.

Coming Home Ensemble Complete!

Yesterday I finally finished the blanket for our baby girl! Now Carleigh's coming home ensemble is complete! I knit the hat and crocheted the blanket to match the little outfit I picked up during a Carter's sale. I am so happy with how it all turned out. She is going to be "berry" cute! (Couldn't resist)

Sleep Training: Day 13

Yesterday we progressed to walking out of the nursery after stories and leaving Nicolaus to fall asleep on his own. The first two times he cried for about 15-20 minutes, but today he only cried for a few minutes and then tonight for a few seconds before drifting off. Hallelujah!
